College-Level Examination Program (CLEP)
The College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) is a standardized, college credit-granting exam program maintained by The College Board. The CLEP offers 33 exams in five subject areas, covering material taught in courses that you may generally take in your first two years of college. Most CLEP exams are designed to correspond to one-semester courses, although some correspond to full-year or two-year courses.
Information For BSU Students
If you are a Bridgewater State University student, check with your academic or faculty advisor first to be sure the CLEP exam you wish to take fits into your degree audit. BSU Testing cannot provide advice on which CLEP to take; it is the test candidate's responsibility to choose the appropriate exam. For a complete list of CLEP exams that grant BSU credit, download the BSU CLEP Credit Transfer Table.
Since all colleges and universities have different policies regarding CLEP credit, test candidates should confer with their academic advisors prior to scheduling an appointment for a CLEP exam.
Registering for a Test
Please note there has been several changes in the procedures for taking CLEP exams here at Testing Services after an update to the CLEP software. All Test-takers are fully responsible to be aware of any updates, changes, or test-specific information prior to their examination date.
All test takers must first register an account through the CLEP My Account Registration Portal. You will choose your exam and pay an $80 test fee in advance online (on test day, you will pay a $35 proctor fee, totalling $115). After you register for your test online, print out your CLEP Exam Registration Ticket(s), and bring it with you on test day. CLEP Exam Registration Tickets (test vouchers) must display the exact examination you wish to take. If the examination name on the voucher does not match the exam you wish to take on the day of your appointment, you will have to complete additional steps on the CLEP website prior to taking your exam; this process may delay or cancel your appointment entirely.
CLEP also requires that you present two forms of identification on test day. To review the identification requirements, click here to visit the official CLEP website. Note: If you do not meet the minimum identification requirements, we cannot administer the test to you.
Official CLEP Resources
CLEP exams cost $115 each, with the fee split into two separate payments ($80 to CLEP in advance; $35 to BSU on test day). Test takers who wish to take examinations which include the optional essay must pay an additional $10 for materials & supplements. For your $35 proctor fee, we accept:
