Professor Abdelal in Oxford

Dr. Ahmed M. Abdelal (communication sciences and disorders) will present his work during the annual Oxford University Education Research Symposium, held March 17-19. His presentation will focus on the effects of adenotonsillar hypertrophy (enlarged adenoids) on early childhood communication and neurocognitive development. His research will also be published in the symposium proceedings and made available to educators worldwide.

Professor Shin publishes two papers

Dr. Yongjun Shin (communication studies) has published two papers on very different topics. The first, “Bourdieu and urban politics: Conceptualizing a Bourdieusian relational framework for urban politics research,” appeared in Sage. The study purposes to build a generic theoretical framework of urban politics, drawing on Bourdieu’s relational sociology and theory of practice. You can read the abstract here: Dr.

A distinguished lecture by Dr. E. C. Ejiogu of the Centre for Africa Studies at the University of the Free State, Bloemfontein, South Africa, will be held Tuesday, March 26 in the Center of Science & Mathematics Lecture Hall starting at 12:30 p.m. His lecture is entitled "The Roots of Political Instability in Nigeria" and is sponsored by Bridgewater's African Studies Program as part of Africa Awareness Week. A distinguished lecture by Dr. Vernon Domingo, professor of geography at Bridgewater State University, entitled "Mandela and His Legacy for South Africa and the World" will be held Wednesday, March 27, in the Center of Science & Mathematics Lecture Hall starting at 1:50 p.m. Co-sponsored by the Department of Geography and the African Studies Program, his lecture is part of Africa Awareness Week. Dance, Drumming Concert

A gala African Dance and Senegalese Drumming Concert will be held Wednesday, March 27, from 5 to 9 p.m. in Burnell Hall, Room 132A. The performance will feature African performers Keep Calm and Azonto (Ghana dance) and Sabar (Senegalese drumming). The concert is part of Africa Awareness Week events.
