'Embracing Writing'

Students, faculty, staff and the public are welcome to attend the awards ceremony for Bridgewater State University's publication "Embracing Writing," on Friday, Oct. 19 from 9 to 10 a.m. in Maxwell Library's Heritage Room. 'Lemon Tree' Author at BSU

Sandy Tolan, author of "The Lemon Tree," the One Book One Community selection in Bridgewater, will deliver a lecture starting at 8:15 p.m.on Monday, Nov. 19 in Boyden Hall's Horace Mann Auditorium. The Bridgewater State University Observatory has scheduled a number of public viewing evenings for the month of October during which astronomy experts and enthusiasts will be available to show the wonders of the night skies and answer questions about astronomy. Viewing nights for the month are Oct. 3, 10, 17 and 24 - all Wednesdays - during the hours of 7 to 9 p.m. Weather sometimes forces cancellation of events.

As part of its Fall 2012 Guest Lecture Series, the Children's Physical Developmental Clinic is featuring a lecture "Amputations and Prosthetics Development: A Personal and Professional Perspective," on Saturday, Oct. 13 from 8 to 9 a.m. in Room 120 of the Center for Science & Mathematics. David Chandonnet of the Veterans Affairs Health Care System in Providence and Donat J. LeBlanc, retired director of Veterans Services in New Bedford, will be the speakers.
