Film Viewing and Discussion

The independently produced documentary "Souls of Zen: Buddhism, Ancestors and the 2011 Tsunami in Japan" will be viewed and discussed on Monday, March 18 in the Moakley Center Auditorium starting at 2 p.m. The film presents perspectives on Buddhism in the midst of Japan's recovery from the earthquake, tsunami and nuclear disasters. A discussion by Joshua Irizarry, a member of the Department of Anthropology faculty, will follow the viewing. The event, co-hosted by the anthropology department and the Asian Studies Program, is open to the campus community and the general public.

Adams Distinguished Speaker

Razia Jan, founder of the Kabuli Education Center in Afghanistan and one of CNN's 2012 Top 10 Heroes, is the next featured speaker in the John Quincy Adams Foreign Affairs Distinguished Speaker Series. Her talk, "Breaking Down Barriers: Educating Girls in Afghanistan," will be held Wednesday, March 6 from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Lecture Hall of the Center for Science & Mathematics at Bridgewater State University. The speaker series, sponsored by the Minnock Center for International Engagement, is open to the BSU community and the public.

Graduate Admissions Session

A number of targeted Graduate Programs Information Sessions have been scheduled during the spring and summer to discuss the university's professional and educator degree programs. Information about the Master of Business Administration program as well as early childhood education, special education and counselor education will be available on Wednesday, May 8. Coordinators from these programs will be available to speak to prospective students at the session which starts at 5:30 p.m. Visit www.bridgew.edu/cogs for session information.

Pathways to Licensure

Faculty coordinators for graduate programs in special education, secondary education (accelerated post baccalaureate, secondary education), Master of Arts in Teaching and TESOL graduate certificate will be available to speak with prospective students during Pathways to Educator Licensure/Graduate Admissions Information Session. Information about the Master of Public Administration as well as the Master of Science in Computer Science will be available on Thursday, March 7. Coordinators from these programs will be available to speak to students at the session which is being held in Room 208 of the Rondileau Campus Center starting at 5:30 p.m.

Information about the Master of Business Administration program as well as master's-level programs in educational leadership, athletic training, mental health counseling and psychology will be available on Tuesday, March 5. Coordinators from these programs will be available to speak to students at the session which is being held in the Moakley Center Auditorium starting at 5:30 p.m.

Evening Degree Session

Bridgewater State University will host an Evening Degree Information Session on Wednesday, April 10 starting at 6 p.m. in Room 112 of East Campus Commons on Burrill Avenue. Bridgewater offers students the flexibility of evening and online classes and the ability to attend full-time or part-time. Undergraduate evening programs include accounting and finance, art, communication studies, criminal justice, economics, English, management, psychology and sociology. Family Orientation

News & Events

A Family Orientation for New Students will be held Thursday, June 27 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Moakley Center. This program provides family members of new, incoming Bridgewater State University students with the opportunity to learn more about the university's student experience. Family members will attend sessions on topics such as academics, community, housing, billing and payment, financial aid, campus safety and support, and more. Cost: $25 per person.
