National mathematics honor society inducts 15
BSU hosted the 2013 Abramson Colloquium & Pi Mu Epsilon Induction Ceremony, honoring 15 new members of the honor society. Inducted were Mark Baker, Katie Gruner, Amanda Hudson, Shellie Johnson, Dr. Annela Kelly, Corey R. Ladderbush, Jacqueline G. Lawson, Ashley Minahan, Judith S. Morin, Terry Mullen, Alberto Ocampo, Kerrie Pratt, Kara Marie Plourde, Camille Schulman and Alexandra Vitiello.
'Dancing through the Pages'

More than 30 children in grades K-3 from the Bridgewater community participated in a dance program at Bridgewater State University this year which recently concluded with a performance at Burnell Hall.
The program, titled "Dancing Through the Pages," teaches the children how to read a book and then interpret the movements that a given character within the story might make.

U of Penn Professor speaks on film adaptations

Timothy Corrigan, professor of English and cinema studies at the University of Pennsylvania, delivered his lecture, “Alligators, Adaptation, and Adaptation Studies Today,” presenting a scholarly take on the way films are adapted from works from other media and how that process has changed over time.
Dr. Hoffman completes archaeological report
Dr. Curtiss Hoffman (anthropology) has completed a management summary report on the archaeological excavations at the Middleborough Little League site conducted by his field school students during the summer of 2012. The overview included a summary results, detailing pit features, artifacts, flakes, organic materials, fire-cracked rock, historic materials, and some preliminary conclusions as to what it all means. A copy of the report has been submitted to the Bridgewater State University library

It's been a busy month for BSU's Civil Air Patrol (CAP) Senior Squadron. First, members participated in a state-wide search and rescue exercise, serving as mission pilots, observers, and scanner trainees. During such exercises, CAP volunteers from across the state conduct simulated disaster relief and damage assessment missions and ensured that CAP personnel are prepared to respond to events such as Hurricane Sandy and the recent snowstorm, Nemo.

BSU recently welcomed Dr. Pamela Witcher as associate provost of faculty affairs. She comes to Bridgewater from the University of Maryland University College, where she served as director of faculty development programs in the Center for Teaching and Learning. Dr. Witcher brings to BSU a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to teaching and research excellence, as an educator, facilitator, and administrator.

Passover, Seder Held

Rabbi J. Hannah Orden of Temple B'nai Israel in Laconia, N.H., visited campus for the third year in a row to conduct a Seder, the Jewish ritual feast that marks the beginning of the Jewish holiday of Passover. The ceremony was part of the fourth annual Passover Celebration and Seder held in the Rondileau Campus Center.
