A Bridgewater State University Alumni Theater Event - a trip to New Bedford's Zeiterion Performing Arts Center to see "Singin' In the Rain," a New Bedford Festival Theatre Production - will be held Sunday, Aug. 4. The day will start at 12 noon with lunch at the Wamsutta Club followed by the 2 p.m. matinee. Tickets are $65 and include both lunch and the performance. New Bedford Festival Theatre was founded in 1990 by Bridgewater graduate Armand Marchand, '66, and has presented 23 summers of full musical productions that have entertained approximately 200,000 theater-goers.

Dr. Howard London, provost and vice president for academic affairs, was honored at a ceremony held at the University of Massachusetts-Boston to recognize the 20th anniversary of its doctoral program in higher education.

BSU Family Day at Rox

News & Events

Alumni, students, faculty and staff are eligible to attend a "BSU Family Fund Day" at the Brockton Rox on Sunday, Aug. 4 starting at 4 at Campanelli Stadium. The field will open an hour before the Rox face the Seacoast Mavericks allowing children and their families to play catch and visit a petting zoo in the Kids Zone. In-game, off-field activities including meeting the Rox mascot "KO," music, face-painting and inflatables. After the game, fans can meet the Rox players for autographs and run the bases. Tickets are $5 for adults while children under age 18 are free.

BSU occupies the 16th position on the recently released list of Top U.S. Colleges & Universities for Teaching Education. These institutions offer their students the widest range of program options when it comes to teaching education.

Specifically helping Bridgewater rank high, according to The College Database, which compiled the list, is the university’s large number of teaching education programs.

Dr. Lisa Battaglino, dean of the College of Education and Allied Studies, welcomed the ranking.

Making the Grade

BestColleges.com has named Bridgewater State University’s Career Services office as among the best in the country. The list is comprised of those who go “above and beyond the call of duty when it comes to life after college.”

“We’re very happy and proud to be recognized,” said John Paganelli, director of Career Services. “The more you focus on customer service the more you’ll get repeat business and people will say when they come to our office they get what they need.”
