Music Ensemble in Concert

The Textures Chamber Music Ensemble will present a concert entitled "Seeing Double" on Thursday, April 18, from 8 to 10 p.m. in Boyden Hall's Horace Mann Auditorium. The event is open to the campus community and public free of charge. Student musicians will perform lively music by French composers Faure and Ravel as well as scenes from the much-loved musical, "The Secret Garden."

'Northern Sovereignties'

"Northern Sovereignties" is the title of the Canadian Studies 2013 Spring Symposium, which will be held Thursday, April 18, starting at 9:45 a.m. in Maxwell Library's Heritage Room. The campus community and public is eligible to attend the morning-long symposium, which will focus on the plight of Arctic and subarctic First Nations, new areas of debate between Canada and the United States, and new possibilities for Quebec's future. Author, Architect Featured

Dr. Suad Amiry, author and architect, will present a talk entitled "Sharon and My Mother-in-Law: A Palestinian Architect Turned 'Hakawati' or Storyteller" on Tuesday, April 16 in Maxwell Library's Heritage Room. The event, which starts at 12:30 is open to the campus community and general public. Dr. Amiry is the founder of Riwaq, the Center for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage in the West Bank. She is the author of Nothing to Lose by Your Life, Menopausal Palestine and the soon-to-be-released Golda Slept Here. Following her talk, Dr.

BSU Unites for Cause

Members of the BSU community participated in the campus’ sixth annual Relay for Life, a 12 hour walk-a-thon to help promote and raise money for cancer awareness. The 700 faculty, staff and students who signed up for the event helped raise $73,600, surpassing the goal of $55,000.

National mathematics honor society inducts 15

BSU hosted the 2013 Abramson Colloquium & Pi Mu Epsilon Induction Ceremony, honoring 15 new members of the honor society. Inducted were Mark Baker, Katie Gruner, Amanda Hudson, Shellie Johnson, Dr. Annela Kelly, Corey R. Ladderbush, Jacqueline G. Lawson, Ashley Minahan, Judith S. Morin, Terry Mullen, Alberto Ocampo, Kerrie Pratt, Kara Marie Plourde, Camille Schulman and Alexandra Vitiello.

'Dancing through the Pages'

More than 30 children in grades K-3 from the Bridgewater community participated in a dance program at Bridgewater State University this year which recently concluded with a performance at Burnell Hall.

The program, titled "Dancing Through the Pages," teaches the children how to read a book and then interpret the movements that a given character within the story might make.
