Students seeking careers in the field of communications heard from alumni on the front lines as part of the annual Careers in Communication panel, held in the Maxwell Library’s Heritage Room.

Last month, 123 students in the General Ecology course set out on Bridgewater’s Carver Pond to conduct hands-on research. The annual field lab excursion saw students canoe into the local waters and take on the role of environmental protection researchers.
Homecoming/Family Day brought to BSU hundreds of campus and community members, friends and families, to celebrate institutional pride in the form of parades, activities and sports.
Professor Jo-Ann Della Giustina (criminal justice) participated in the Massachusetts Executive Office of Public Safety's conference, "Rethinking Reentry: A Massachusetts Imperative." The goal was to create tailored concrete strategies to support successful reentry of returning citizens after incarceration, and was held in anticipation of Gov. Deval Patrick's statewide Reentry Task Force. Dr.
Professor Margaret Bellafiore (art) has published "Combat to Campus" in the September issue of Academe, a publication of the Association of University Professors. In the article, Professor Bellafiore recounts a sound installation she created using the voices of BSU student veterans. The installation took place at BSU and at Mobius, a Boston gallery. Those responsible for making the Bridge Partnership a reality were shown the gratitude of President Dana Mohler-Faria Thursday night, at a dinner held in their honor.
The Massachusetts Archaeological Society (MAS) and the Taunton River Watershed Alliance sponsored an Archaeological paddle in the watershed. The canoe and kayak tour drew more than 40 participants and featured an in-depth look at the Taunton River and its tributaries. It was guided by Professor Curtiss Hoffman (anthropology), past president of MAS. Dr.
A photograph by Professor Ivana George (art) is being exhibited through Saturday at the Photographic Resource Center in Boston as part of its Benefit Auction Exhibition. (Details are here). The image, "Glacial Waters #4," was taken during a 2009-2010 trip to Peru, which was sponsored in part by CART (now CARS). The photograph was also featured in an exhibition at the Griffin Museum this summer.
