The BSU may have lost in the opening round of the 2013 NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Tournament, but team members have no reason to hang their heads. The squad posted another great season, entering the tournament with 11 wins in a row. The squad had also won 17 of its last 18 games. In fact, under Coach Bridgett Casey, the team has compiled the second-high win total in program history.
It was the third trip in a row to the tournament for the Bears, and its fourth in six years. The team traveled for the first round to Amherst College, where the final score against the University of New England was 67-58.
BSU senior guard Michaela Cosby paced BSU with 20 points, six rebounds, five assists and five steals. She wraps up an outstanding career with 1,092 points, ranking her seventh on the Bears’ all-time scoring list.
