Homecoming/Family Day brought to BSU hundreds of campus and community members, friends and families, to celebrate institutional pride in the form of parades, activities and sports.

The day kicked off with more than 100 participants lacing up for the Carol Mulloy Cuttle Classic 5K Road Race, held throughout Bridgewater. All proceeds from the race benefit a scholarship fund that supports the Children’s Physical Development Clinic, which provides assistance to disabled and handicapped children from Eastern Massachusetts. The morning activities also included the annual President's Breakfast, held for students and families and hosted by President Dana Mohler-Faria in the Flynn Dining Commons.

A highlight of the annual celebration is the Homecoming parade, where students representing campus organizations process on homemade floats down Park Ave., performing skits and dances for the crowd. This year, the parade had a backdrop of the newly completed Science and Mathematics Center, where guided tours were provided to families later in the day. The floats and performances are judged by BSU representatives, with the winners earning prizes for their organization.

This year’s Homecoming theme was board games. Near the clock tower, students and families had the opportunity to play large versions of classic board games, such as chess and Connect Four.

Come the afternoon, sports fans filled the stands at Swenson Field, where they watched the Bears football team defeat the Worcester State University Lancers, 19-07, during the homecoming game.

Additional events included alumni breakfasts that brought together former members of BSU organizations, family bingo games, a miniature golf charity drive, trolley tours, art exhibits, and a performance from magician Norman Ng.
