Watershed tour led by professor

Thu, 2012-10-11 16:51 -- rmatheson

The Massachusetts Archaeological Society (MAS) and the Taunton River Watershed Alliance sponsored an Archaeological paddle in the watershed. The canoe and kayak tour drew more than 40 participants and featured an in-depth look at the Taunton River and its tributaries. It was guided by Professor Curtiss Hoffman (anthropology), past president of MAS. Dr. Hoffman is an activist supporting the rich historical values in the watershed, who recently contributed to the important discussion among developers, regional lawmakers, and the Massachusetts Historical Commission debating the ability of a medical software company to expand on archeologically sensitive land located on the South Coast. Participating in the trip were anthropology major McKayla Hoffman (no relation) and recent alumna Mara Smith. October is Massachusetts Archaeology Month. Go to for more information.
