Professor Margaret Bellafiore (instructor, art) was selected to be part of the Boston Children’s Museum’s centennial celebration. She designed a window installation for a letter of the alphabet. Professor Bellafiore said she chose the letter S for “symbol.” The installation includes a 100-year-old American bald eagle, a peace symbol, the Great Seal of the United States, 26 little "dolls" holding semaphore flags, an 1883 silver dollar, quarters and several dollar bills. Also, one of Professor Bellafiore’s students, Ghada Masri, took part with her in a performance at the Cambridge Art Council. The performance included writing 51 names in Arabic calligraphy on a 15-foot-scroll. Part one of this two-part event was photographed and images can be seen here.
